# Cline

Use Aurora with [Cline](https://cline.bot/) by selecting its **OpenAI Compatible**
provider in the VS Code extension.

> Available Inference endpoint: `https://ai.aur.lu/v1` (Aurora).

## Install and prepare

Install Cline from the VS Code Extensions view, then open its sidebar. Create an
[Aurora API token](https://docs.aur.lu/docs/inference/getting-started) and choose a model from the
[catalog](https://docs.aur.lu/docs/inference/integrations#discover-models-and-verify-authentication).

## Configure the connection

1. Open Cline's **Settings** using the gear icon.
2. Select **OpenAI Compatible** as the API Provider.
3. Set **Base URL** to:

```text
https://ai.aur.lu/v1
```

4. Paste your Aurora token into **API Key**, without `Bearer `.
5. Enter `deepseek/deepseek-v4-flash` as the **Model ID**.
6. Save the settings. If your installation uses separate Plan and Act model
   configurations, configure both with the intended Aurora connection.

Use the full model ID without an extra client prefix. The base URL already has
`/v1`; do not append `/chat/completions`. Leave Azure identity authentication off.

Under **Model Configuration**, use context/output limits for the chosen model.
Only enable image or other capabilities that it supports. Custom-model pricing
fields are estimates; Aurora's Portal is the source for billed usage.

## Verify the agent loop

Open a project with a small README and start a new task:

```text
Read README.md and summarize the project in three bullets. Do not edit files.
```

Approve the file read if prompted. Expect the file contents to appear as a tool
result and a summary to follow. Cline displays the generated response as it arrives.
Replace the filename if necessary.

## Troubleshooting

- **Wrong API selected:** Use **OpenAI Compatible**, not the official OpenAI
  provider or an Anthropic provider.
- **Works in Plan but fails in Act:** Check whether separate models are enabled
  and repeat the connection settings for the other mode.
- **Model not found:** Use the complete catalog ID, including its author prefix
  (for example `deepseek/`); a display name is not a catalog ID.
- **Tools fail after a successful answer:** Inspect the model's tool support,
  Cline permissions, and the actual tool error. Reduce to the file-read test.
